About the Role
A Teller plays an important role in delivering efficient banking services by handling daily customer transactions with accuracy and professionalism. The position is responsible for processing deposits, withdrawals, cheque transactions, and remittances while ensuring full compliance with banking regulations and internal procedures. In addition to cash handling, the Teller supports branch operations and provides excellent customer service to maintain a smooth banking experience.
Key Responsibilities
Cash & Transaction Processing
- Process customer deposits, cash withdrawals, and cheque transactions accurately.
- Handle remittances, transfers, and other customer payment services.
- Maintain accurate records of all daily financial transactions.
- Perform end-of-day cash balancing and reconcile cash holdings.
- Ensure all transactions are completed in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Follow Central Bank regulations, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.
- Maintain dual-custody procedures for cash and secure handling of branch funds.
- Ensure zero cash shortages or discrepancies through careful cash management.
- Adhere to operational, compliance, and security policies at all times.
Customer Service
- Deliver friendly, professional, and efficient service to customers at the branch counter.
- Assist customers with banking transactions and general service requests.
- Provide information about the bank's products and services when required.
- Respond to customer enquiries promptly while maintaining high service standards.
- Represent the bank's values through professional conduct and customer-focused service.
Branch Operations Support
- Assist with daily branch administrative activities.
- Support the Head Teller and Branch Operations Representative in operational tasks.
- Participate in business continuity and branch operational procedures.
- Maintain accurate cash handover and takeover documentation between shifts.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
- Previous banking or customer service experience is an advantage.
- Good understanding of banking operations and cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of banking regulations, AML, and KYC requirements is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking systems is beneficial.
- Strong English communication skills; additional language skills are an advantage.
